Bonggita / Apoptosis
There are a handful of artists who can seemingly captivate me completely with the way they compose music. Their albums tend to feel more like an experience rather than just listening to an album. Bonggita is one such artist and I can tell you that my first listen through of his latest album, Apoptosis, was a magical experience. I immediately wanted to tell all of my friends about this amazing new record I'd just heard, to climb the highest building to shout it out across the rooftops, and to share it with as many ears as possible. Thankfully I'm able to do that through Echosynthetic, and if I can only convince a handful of people that Bonggita is the best thing since sliced bread, I'll call it a success on my part!
As I just eluded to, Apoptosis is quite a stunner, and I mean that on all fronts. The pacing is superb from start to finish, the production is top notch and crystal clear, and it's able to connect with the listener on an emotional level. For an artist who is telling a story over the course of multiple albums, that last part...connecting on an emotional level...is so very important. I'm going to be honest, I wasn't sure how Bonggita was going to be able to one-up his last album, but somehow he has been able to shame me with what is most certainly the magnum opus of his discography. Apoptosis is a sure-fire Bonggita classic.
From soaring vocals, progressive chord structures, and out of the box songwriting, Bonggita has crafted something truly special here. Apoptosis gave me chills the first time I heard it and it has continued to reach down into my soul with each successive listen. To say that I highly recommend this album would be an understatement. This is a MUST OWN synthwave album and most certainly one of the best things that will grace 2018.
